bdnews journos come under attack

Dhaka, May 28 (UNB) – Miscreants attacked the journalists of online newspaper bdnews24.com in the city’s Mohakhali area on Monday night, leaving five injured.bdnews news editor Monirul Islam told UNB that a group of local terrorists swooped on the newsmen on the ground floor of the media house at Amtoli and stabbed them indiscriminately.Two of the injured -- sub-editor Newaz Mohammed Rifat and correspondent Salahuddin Wahid Pritom -- were taken to United Hospital in critical condition.bdnews sources said a local youth attacked Ruhul Amin, an employee of the online newspaper, around 8:30pm in front of the building that house the media outlet on its fifth floor.Being informed, his colleagues from the office rushed down and caught the youth. Later, he was handed over to local police. As the news spread around, local criminals equipped with sharp weapons attacked the journalists.They stabbed Rifat and Pritom in their legs and beat up three others, leaving them injured.Meanwhile, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia denounced the ‘terrorist’ attack on the online newspaper and demanded immediate arrest of the attackers and their exemplary punishment.
