Dacoits waylay ex-BNP MP Lalu in Bogra, mug cash, valuables

Bogra, June 18 (UNB) – BNP`s central leader and ex-MP Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu and his entourages came under attack by robbers on way to his Gabtoli village home from Bogra town early Monday. Party and family sources said Lalu along with his son, brother and 7-8 party activists were going to Kolakopa village of Gabtoli upazila by two private cars at 1-30 am. As they passed Poradaha Bridge a gang of 8-10 armed dacoits waylaid them and robbed them of Tk 70,000 in cash, 13 cell phone sets and other valuables items worth well over Tk 2 lakh. Lalu`s personal assistant Saiful Islam said that Lalu, BNP`s central leader and former MP of Bogra-7 was going to his constituency from Sutrapur of the district town. A 8-10 armed robbers swooped on them and searched their bodies and took away 13 mobile phones and cash 70,000 from Lalu and his entourage. However, none was hurt. Lalu, cottage industries affairs secretary of BNP, is yet to file a case in this connection, he informed.
