69 BNP men sent to jail in Sylhet

Sylhet, July 11 (UNB) – A court here on Wednesday sent 69 leaders and activists of BNP and its front organisations to jail in a case filed in connection with deaths of three people in a clash with police on April 23.Court sources said the judge of the additional district and session court passed the order after the accused appeared before the court seeking permanent bail.Police filed the case against the leaders and activists of BNP and its front organisations after three workers of Jubo Dal and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal were killed in a clash with the law enforcers during a violent demonstration on April 23 protesting disappearance of BNP leader M Ilias Ali.The accused secured a two-month ad interim bail from the High Court.
