Drug addict son kills father

Sherpur, Aug 09 (UNB) – An old man was killed by his drug addict son as he refused to give him the money to buy illegal drugs at Shitalpur in the town on Thursday. The dead is: Joykumar Das, 65, rice mill worker and hailed from Muktagachha upazila of Mymensingh district. Police said Shyamal Kumar Das, 35, who also works at Chouhan Rice Mill at Shitalpur Mahalla along with Joykumar, is a drug addict and used to engage in altercation with his father over money for the last several years. On Thursday morning Shyamal picked up a quarrel with his father over the issue and at one stage hit him with a long knife in his throat leaving him dead on the spot at the rice mill at 5 am. Police arrested Shyamal.
