2 killed in Chuadanga lynch-mob attack

Chuadanga, Aug 21 (UNB) - A mob-lynch attack at Ashtala village in Jibonnagar upazila of the district left two suspected robbers dead and another critically injured early Tuesday.The deceased were identified as Anwarul Islam of Kakrimari village in Jessore and Nayan Biswas, 27, of Magura.Quoting villagers, police said 8-10 robbers swooped on the house of Haider Ali at Ashtala village around 3am and started looting valuables after holding the house imamates hostage at gunpoint.At one stage, the police said, the housemaster caught one of the robbers and started shouting. Hearing his screams, the villagers rushed in, chased the robbers and nabbed three of them.The angry villagers then gave the robbers a tremendous thrashing, leaving Anwar and Nayan dead on the spot.The injured, Afaz Uddin of Ashtala village, was admitted to Jibonnagar Health Complex in a critical condition.Two of the villagers were also injured during the melee.Contacted, officer-in-charge of Jibonnagar Police Station confirmed UNB about the incident.
