News - President summons Parliament into session on Jan 4

Dhaka, Dec 14 (UNB) - The Jatiya Sangsad goes into session at 3pm on January 4 with the President delivering his New Year speech in the House.

President Zillur Rahman Monday summoned the 4th session of the 9th Parliament and the first of the year 2010 “in exercise of his power under article 72 of the Constitution”, said the Parliament Secretariat in a release.

The third session of the present parliament was prorogued on November 5 after a run for 22 working days without the main opposition party in the House for their prolonged boycott.

Opposition BNP is yet to take their decision to return to parliament ending their prolonged boycott over sitting arrangement in the front row of the House.
