College student killed, another injured in road accident in Bagerhat

Bagerhat, Dec 19 (UNB) - A college student was killed and another injured in a head-on collision between a human hauler ‘Nasiman’ and a motorbike at Naula bazar in Chitalmari upazila on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Turan Mollah, 19, son of Wahed Mollah, a resident of the upazila headquarter.

Witnesses said the accident took place on Chitolmari-Patgathi road when the bamboo-laden ‘Nasiman’ collided with a motorbike about 8pm, leaving motorcyclist Turan dead on the spot and injuring classmate critically.

Injured Abdul Aziz was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.

In another incident, police recovered the body of a rickshaw puller at Hariadh in Mollahat upazila Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Monir Gazi, 58, hailed from Boijhakati village in the upazila.

Local people found the body of Monir beside Khulna-Mawa highway and informed police.

After recovering the body police sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
