Dhaka, Dec 23 (UNB) - Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid Wednesday said legal actions will be taken against the unscrupulous booksellers who are selling free of cost textbooks of 2009 by spreading falsehood that textbooks will remain unchanged for the new academic year of 2010.

Talking to reporters at his Ministry, he said the dishonest booksellers are also spreading propaganda that there will be crisis of new textbooks for school students.

The Education Minister urged the students and their guardians not to be duped by the evil propaganda and not to buy textbooks which will be distributed free of cost at the beginning of the new academic year in January.

Nahid sent a team from the Education Ministry this (Wednesday) morning to Nilkhet market where the team members in the guise of customers bought textbooks of primary, ebtedayee and secondary schools. Legal actions will be taken against the dishonest book sellers, he said.

The Education Minister said the Thana Education Officers in each Upazila have been given the responsibility to ensure that each school gets textbooks without any discrimination.
