
Meherpur, Jan 22 (UNB) - A Bangladeshi farmer was shot dead by Indian Boarder Security Force (BSF) along Khalpara border in Sadar upazila early Friday.
The victim was identified as Nazrul Islam, 37, son of Mobarak Ali of Baribaka village in the upazila.
BDR sources said BSF troops of Natna camp in Nadia district of West Bengal opened fire on Nazrul while he was working in his paddy field at about 6am, killing him on the spot.
Later, the BSF members dragged the body into the Indian territory.
Meanwhile, BDR sent a protest letter to their counterpart and demanded immediate return of the body.
Earlier, on January 16, BSF troops of Fulbari camp killed another Bangladeshi citizen, Shahidul Islam, as he got close to Kazipur border in Gangni upazila here for collecting firewood.
