Habiganj, Jan 26 (UNB) - Five years have gone but trial of former Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria murder case has not started.

Kibria and four others were killed and more than 70 others injured in a grenade attack at the fag end of a rally at Baidder bazar on January 27, 2005.

CID officer Munshi Atiqur Rahman, after investigation into the murder, had submitted charge sheet to the court on March 19 the same year against ten persons, the prime accused being a local BNP leader.

Complainant of the case Abdul Majid Khan had filed a 'naraji' petition against the charge sheet that rolled to the High Court as the lower courts rejected it.

On High Court order, CID officer Rafiqul Islam was given the task of re-investigation. He found involvement of HuJI militants in the murder. Former state minister of Home Lutfozzaman Babar, former Habiganj DC Emdadul Huq and the then DIG Mahfuzur Rahman were also interrogated.

On July 3, 2008, Qaiyum of BNP, one of the 10 people charge sheeted by Munshi Atique, was enlarged on bail.

The current investigator Rafiq said he will soon submit a supplementary charge sheet accusing 11 people, including Mufti Abdul Hannan, now under custody and is accused in most of the grenade/bomb attacks occurred.
