
Dhaka, Feb 8 (UNB) - Bangladesh Army has deployed a new contingent BANBAT-4, comprising 175 personnel including five officers, at UN peacekeeping Mission in Sudan (UNMIS).
BANBAT-4 members, led by Major Jahangir Hossain, Artillery, left Dhaka for Sudan Sunday night by a UN chartered aircraft.
Prior to their departure for Sudan, a munajat was offered in the departure lounge at the Zia International Airport seeking more excellence of the army contingent in future.
Bangladesh army contingent have been deployed at UN peacekeeping Mission in Sudan since 2005. Now eight contingent of Bangladesh Army have been working there.
Bangladesh army contingent achieved confidence of Sudanese government and Sudanese people in mitigating conflict by discharging their duties with efficiency, professionalism and sincerity, said an ISPR release.
