News - Suranjit views killings in Dhaka city and RU campus pre-planned
Sangsad Bhaban, Feb 10 (UNB) - Suranjit Sengupta of the ruling party in parliament today squarely blamed Chhatra Shibir for the killing of a student in Rajshahi University campus and advocated for banning the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.

He said killing of three persons, two in Dhaka and one in Rajshahi University campus, on Tuesday was not isolated incidents. The simultaneous killings were pre-planned to destabilize the political situation and embarrass the democratic government.

Occupying the floor on a point of order Suranjit made a lengthy statement beyond the rules of procedure. Speaker Abdul Hamid took a lenient view in the absence of opposition and allowed him to continue.

Suranjit, a flamboyant member of Awami League, said Rajshahi campus murder was cruel and it was done at the instance of Jamaat. In fact, all the three killings were outcome of a political decision to destabilize the political situation.

He advocated for immediate ban on politics by Chhatra Shibir that used to doing politics of cutting tendons and arms of adversaries.

“Those cut tendons have no right to do politics. Shibir is the only organization that resorts to barbaric way of killing. They are grooming as successors of Nizami and other war criminals,” he said spitting venom against Jamaat and Shibir.
Suranjit demanded the Home Minister, who was not in the House, should explain the killing incidents and inform what measures taken against the culprits.
