Bangladesh replaces Army Contingents in UN Mission in Sudan

Dhaka, Feb 19 (UNB) - Bangladesh is replacing eight Army Contingents in United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Sudan (UNMIS).
First batch of 170 members Army team, including officers from infantry battalion and medical contingent led by Col Mohammad Yusuf left Dhaka for Sudan on Thursday night by a UN chartered plane.
Under this replacement programme, a total of 861 personnel of eight Army contingents will be replaced from February 18 to February 25 by five flights.
The eight Army contingents included one infantry battalion, two engineer contingents, one medical contingent, one military police contingent, one transport company and one petroleum platoon.
Bangladesh Army contingents have been deployed at UN Peacekeeping Mission in Sudan since 2005. They achieved confidence of Sudanese government as well as people in mitigating conflict by discharging their duties with efficiency, professionalism and sincerity.
