Khulna, Mar 2 (UNB) - A farmer was killed in an attack allegedly by an army person and his relatives following a row over realizing lent money at Adampur village in Terokhada upazila Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Kabir Sheikh, 60, of the village.

Khunla Police Super Shamsuddin told UNB that Kabir gave a good amount of money to his neighbour Lance Corporal Wahiduzzaman for sending his son abroad two years back.

Kabir mounted pressure on Wahid, who came home on leave three days back, for return of the money as he failed to send Kabir’s son abroad in time. It angered the military man.

Wahiduzzaman, along with his 10-12 relatives, attacked Kabir at about 7:30pm with sharp weapons, “killing him on the spot,” said police and locals.

On information, police recovered and sent the body to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police also rounded up three persons in this connection.

Wahid, posted at Commilla Cantonment, went into hiding after the incident. A case was filed.
