News - England complete whitewash with 45-run win
Craig Kieswetter scored his maiden hundred to steer England to 284

England have beaten Bangladesh by 45 runs in the third one-day international at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium in Chittagong, in the process completing a 3-0 series whitewash.

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan had won the toss and put England in to bat.

After some good work initially, the Bangladesh attack faltered in the final overs, allowing England to post a matchwinning total of 284/5 from their 50 overs. England opener Craig Kieswetter, playing only his third one day international, was the mainstay of his side's innings with a solid 107 crafted out of 123 balls.

Although Kieswetter and captain Alastair Cook provided England with a good opening partnership, runs were generally difficult to come by as the Bangladesh spinners, led by Shakib al Hasan and Abdur Razzak, kept a tight leash on the batsmen with good support from Suhrawardy Shuvo.

The first four English wickets were all claimed by the spinners, with Razzak finishing with the best figures of 2/40 off his quota of 10 overs.

Once again however, the Bangladeshi attack was found wanting in the slog overs, and Eoin Morgan, following on from his hundred in the last match, and Luke Wright delivered some lusty blows that meant England score 62 runs off the last five overs to take the score well past what had seemed likely when the Bangladeshi spinners were holding sway.

In reply, Bangladesh had the worst possible start to their innings, with Tamim Iqbal falling for a duck in the very first over, holing out to third man. Wickets kept tumbling regularly, with none of the batsmen capitalising on good starts to post a big score. Four Bangladeshi batsmen crosses 30, but none of them went to post even a fifty. Aftab Ahmed top scored for the home side with a fluent 46.

At one stage, Bangladesh looked to be in the hunt, but keeping up with the run rate while at the same time preserving wickets proved too tall a task, and the innings floundered. In the end, Bangladesh managed to play out their 50 overs, but it was not enough.

Kieswetter was named man-of-the-match for his matchwinning century. Morgan, who scored a hundred in the second ODI in Dhaka, was named man-of-the-series. The two teams now move on to contest a 2-Test series, with the first Test starting in Chittagong on March 12.
