News - Govt to import 25,000 mt sunned rice from Myanmar
Dhaka, Mar 7 (UNB)-The government will import 25,000 metric tons of sunned rice from Myanmar to meet the domestic demand for the staple.

To this effect, the Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase at a meeting today (Sunday), with Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the chair, approved a bid proposal.

As per a proposal from the Food Ministry, Singapore-based Indo-Sino Trade Pte will supply the bulk rice from Myanmar at a rate of US$ 395 per ton.

The total import will cost Tk 68.73 crore. The Indo-Sino Trade syndicate won the contract “as the lowest bidder”, said an official of the Cabinet Division.
