
Dhaka, Mar 8 (UNB)-Visiting World Health Organisation (WHO) Director General Dr Margaret Chan on Monday lauded Bangladesh’s achievement in improving the health sector.
Her appreciation came after her visit to a community clinic of the government and micro credit programme of a national NGO at Chougacca Upazila of Jessore district and Cyclone Aila affected Satkhira district, said a press release
“High level of political commitment and community participation can make any programme successful,” she said.
Earlier this morning she met with all heads of UN agencies in Bangladesh.
Dr Margaret Chan arrived here on Sunday on a two-day state visit.
She is expected to meet tomorrow with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque, Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Advisor to the PM Professor Dr Modasser Ali, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Captain (retd) Mujibur Rahman Fakir.
