News - Speaker responds to criticism; Says he is not there to ‘teach’ or ‘scare’ MPs
Sangsad Bhaban, Mar 8 (UNB)-Speaker Abdul Hamid told parliament on Monday that he has not assumed the chair to teach or scare members of the House.

He made the remarks as BNP member Mosharraf Hossain, during a statement on the thanksgiving motion for the president pleaded that the Speaker should teach the lawmakers how to behave.

The Speaker said that many of the MPs are better-versed with parliamentary practices than him, and the people had elected them to parliament.

Apparently, Hamid made the remarks to respond to certain criticisms against him by opposition chief whip Zainul Abdin Farooque a few days ago at a function in Chittagong, related to some recent rulings by the Speaker.
