
Dhaka, Mar 9 (UNB) - Bangladesh Betar will air the programmes of Deutsche Welle (DW) Bengali radio service of Germany for half an hour two times daily soon.
In this connection, Betar and Deutsche Welle signed a three-year agreement at the Information Ministry Tuesday.
M Mahbubul Alam, Director General of Betar and Gerda Mure, Managing Director of DW Academy, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad and German Ambassador to Dhaka Holger Michael, among other, were present at the signing ceremony.
Under this agreement, Betar will air Deutsche Welle radio service programmes through 97.6 megahertz of Dhaka and FM transmitter of Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur.
The DW will annually pay more than $52,000 to Betar for broadcasting its programme.
Employees of engineering and news section of Betar would get opportunity for training from the DW.
The German radio would also provide 3-12 months internship and fellowship to the employees of Betar in its Bangla service and technical assistance to Betar.
Betar and DW jointly made a documentary on climate change and its effect titled “Living with the forces of Nature” in 2007, which won gold medal in International Radio Festival in New in 2008.
