Two robbers lynched in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj, Mar 10 (UNB)- Two suspected robbers were beaten to death by a lynch mob at Astagharia village in Kotiadi upazila early Wednesday.

Five people, including a UP chairman, were injured by the bandits.

Police said a band of 20/25 robbers entered the house of Abdus Salam by breaking the door at about 2am and looted 25 tolas of gold jewelry and cash Tk over 2 lakh after beating up the inmates of the house.

Hearing the scream of the inmates local people rushed to the spot and cordoned off the house.

“In a bid to flee the bandits attack the villagers with sharp weapon, leaving five of them, including Achmita UP chairman Mahbubur Rahman, injured”, said a witness account of the incident.

The villagers caught two of the fleeing robbers and gave them a good thrashing, leaving them dead on the spot. The deceased could not be identified immediately.

Among the injured villagers, Muhiruddin,12, was first rushed to upazila health complex and later shifted to Jahirul Islam Medical College Hospital.

Police recovered the bodies of the two robbers and sent those to hospital morgue.

A case was filed.
