SAARC Seed Forum formally starts journey

Dhaka, Mar 10 (UNB) - SAARC Seed Forum (SSF) has been launched in a meeting at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre with its first Convenor and Director General of the Seed Wing of the Agriculture Ministry Anwar Faruque in the chair.

The meeting, attended by the members of the SSF, took 5-point decisions, including formulation of its. A sub-committee headed by Dr. Nazmul Huda was formed to draft the constitution.

The SAARC Centre was given the responsibility to place the SSF to its ministerial meeting for its approval.

The meeting decided to hold its first congress in Dhaka in February next year.

As per a decision of the SFF, the businessmen, trading house, researchers, public and private research organizations could be the founder member of the forum by paying a fee of US$ 300.

Malavika Dadlani of Indian Seed Science and technology, Nepal Seed Association President Mitra Raj Dewani, convenor of Bangladesh Seed Association (BSA) Mahbub Anam, director of the SAARC Agriculture Centre Dr. Rafiqul Islam Mondal and senior programme officer Dr. Ibrahim Mohammad Syed were also present in the meeting.
