Barisal, Mar 10 (UNB)- Barisal Launch Owners’ Association Wednesday urged local administration to take legal steps for ending the continuing launch strike which they said enforced illegally by launch workers in the district.

The association leaders made the call at a press conference held at their Barisal port office in the morning, considering the sufferings of the commuters.

They said local Launch Workers’ Association called the strike on 18 inter-district routes on Monday (Mar 8), for realising their four-point demand.

Their major demand includes reinstatement of the four workers dismissed for their misbehaviour with passengers and a launch owner.

Meanwhile, the Labour Directorate also directed the district administration to end the crisis through bilateral negotiation.

Besides, the Deputy Commission also formed a five-member committee, headed by a magistrate, to resolve the problem.
