News - Bangabandhu much above the standing of Shaheed Zia, Moudud tells parliament
Sangsad Bhaban, Mar 10 (UNB) - Senior BNP leader barrister Moudud Ahmed tonight (Wednesday) admitted in parliament that the status of Bangabandhu is much higher than that of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the founder of his party.

Taking part in the thanksgiving motion on the President’s New Year speech he said there is no ideological conflict between Bangabandhu and Ziaur Rahman.

“Zia came to the helm of affairs to fill up the vacuum in the country’s politics,” said the former law minister.

Moudud observed that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is being belittled by making Ziaur Rahman controversial.

He blamed certain intellectuals and “overenthusiastic” Awami Leaguers for dragging down the independence leader, Bangabandhu, into the fray to make him “controversial”.
