Barisal, Mar 11 (UNB) - The launch workers Thursday called off their indefinite water transport strike on the 18 routes in the district after a fruitful negotiation with the launch owners.

President of Launch Owners’ Association Mahbubuddin Birbikram told UNB that the strike was called off at noon.

“The strike was withdrawn after the launch owners assured the launch workers of fulfilling their demands gradually during a meeting at the Shipping Ministry with Minister Shahajahan Khan in the chair today,” he said.

Bangladesh Noujan Sramik Federation and Launch Workers’ Association enforced the strike Sunday to press home their four-point demands.

Their major demand was reinstatement of the four workers dismissed for their misbehaviour with a launch owner.
