Indian WIM Kiran takes solo lead in Parachute Chess

Dhaka, Mar 11 (UNB)-Indian WIM Kiran Manisha Mohanty took solo lead in the Parachute Advanced International Chess Tournament securing four points after the 5th round matches at the Uni Resort in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.

FM Abu Sufian Shakil of Bangladesh and Minina Veronika of Russia followed the leader with 3.5 points each while FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman Emon and FM Abdul Malek shared the third slot collecting three points.

In the 5th round matches, Kiran beat Emon, Veronika beat Saifuddin Lavlu, Shakil drew with Dave Dhyani (India), Malek beat WFM Tanima Parveen while WFM Shamima Akter Liza drew with FM Peter Long (Malaysia).

Earlier in the fourth round matches Wednesday evening, Kiran beat Lisa, Shakil drew with Veronika, Emon beat Dhyani, Malek drew with Peter Long and Tanima drew with Lavlu.

The 6th round matchers will be held tomorrow (Friday) from 10 am at the same venue.
