Dhaka, Apr 15 (UNB) - New soccer powerhouse Sheikh Russell KC beat Chittagong Abahani by 3-1 goals in the only match of the Citycell Bangladesh League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) here on Thursday.

With this win, Sheikh Russell KC maintained their 3rd slot in the league table with 39 points while Chittagong Abahani remained at 9th position with 15 points, both playing 16 matches.

After the barren first half, Salah Maslouh put Sheikh Russell KC ahead in the 58th minute (1-0) while Mithun restored parity for Chittagong Abahani in the 60th minutes (1-1)

Jahirul doubled the margin for Sheikh Russell KC in the 81st minute (2-1) while Moroccan recruit Samir Omari completed the winners’ tally converting a spot kick in the 83rd minute (3-1).

Friday’s matches: Brothers Union vs Rahmatganj MFS (4:30 pm BNS); Chittagong Mohammedan vs Farashganj SC MA (at 3:30 pm Aziz Stadium, Chittagong).
