Dhaka, June 22 (UNB) - Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, who is now visiting France on a 4-day visit, passed her busy time holding talks with officials there.

She arrived in Paris on Sunday evening on her first bilateral visit to the country from June 20-23.

On June 21, the minister visited the French National Assembly and attended a meeting organised by France-Bangladesh Friendship Group.

In the meeting, Dr. Dipu Moni briefed the President of the France-Bangladesh Friendship Group about the democratic process of Bangladesh and different facade of the present democratic government of Bangladesh under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

She mentioned about various initiatives taken by the government of Bangladesh towards strengthening the multiparty democratic process, development of human rights, women empowerment, children education and poverty eradication.

Dr. Dipu Moni presented to the French parliamentary group a vivid picture of the economic progress attained by Bangladesh and the present trend of growth.

She appreciated the expansion of Bangladesh’s export to France, which for the first time crossed the billion dollar mark in the last financial year and continues to increase.

The Minister also highlighted different incentives and opportunities offered by Bangladesh Government and requested the France-Bangladesh Friendship Group to influence the Government of France and the private sector of the country to increase more investment in Bangladesh.

The France-Bangladesh Friendship Group expressed its satisfaction at the level of business and trade existing between the two countries.

The group assured the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh of its continuous support and cooperation on bilateral political relations and economic development of Bangladesh.

The President of the friendship group Paul Giacobbi informed Dr. Dipu Moni that in November this year the group would visit Bangladesh to explore further scope of cooperation between France and Bangladesh.
