9 Bangladeshi citizens arrested while crossing into India

Sherpur, June 24 (UNB)- Nine Bangladeshi citizens including a trafficker were arrested while going to India illegally at the Haldigram frontier in the early hours of Thursday.

The victims are Abdul Quddus, 70, and his wife Nurjahan, 45, his two-year-old son Arif, Sattar, 65, and his wife  Hazera Begum,60, of Munshir Char village at sadar upazila, Nurul Islam, 40, Abdul Zabbar, 55, Nurul Miah,42, of Saichakura village at Nalitabari upazila and trafficker Anisur Rahman, 40, of Burunga village.

Police said a patrol team of 45 Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) arrested them while crossing Haldigram frontier.

Another two traffickers Ismail, 35, and Shafiqul,20, of Gumra village in Jhenigati upazila however managed to escape the scene.

All the arrested were produced before the Judicial Magistrate court and sent them to jail.
