Tea sale Tuesday sees slightly improved demand

Chittagong, June 29 (UNB) - The weekly tea sale here Tuesday was marked by slightly improved demand following more competition from both Blenders and the Loose Tea buyers.

According to a market report, good liquoring varieties continued to receive good support from the Blenders. As a result, prices of such varieties were fully firm to occasionally dearer.

Dusts were a lower market following less competition.

CTC LEAF: 19,613 packages and 575 packages of Old Season on offer met with a strong demand at mostly firm rates.

BROKENS: Good liquoring Brokens particularly the smaller types met with strong demand and were firm to slightly dearer, quoted between Tk 216/- and Tk 220/-. Others sold well and were mostly firm. Plainer sorts were slightly easier.

FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings were a stronger market and were firm to slightly dearer following competition. These sold between Tk 215/- and Tk 220/-. Plainer varieties eased slightly.

CTC DUST: 3,590 and 26 packages of Old Season on offer met with less demand at easier rates. RDs/PDs/Ds eased by up to Tk 5/- and sometimes more whilst CDs were easier by up to Tk 10/- and sometimes more. Both Blenders and Loose Tea buyers lent less support.
