Dhaka, Jul 14 (UNB) - Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Huq on Wednesday said that the proposed draft National Health Policy-2010 will be finalized soon.

“I hoped that it will be finalized within a couple of months. The policy has to be implemented to ensure the healthcare of people,” he told reporters at his office after the first meeting of the national committee on implementation of the National Health Policy 2010.

He stressed the need for involvement of all to implement the national health policy effectively.

Chaired by the minister, the meeting was attended, among others by, Health Adviser to Prime Minister Dr Syed Mudasser Ali, State Minister for Health Mujibur Rahman Fakir, Muhammad Amanullah, MP, Murad Hasan, MP, National Professors Nurul Islam, AR Khan and Brig (retd) Abdul Malik.

The meeting held elaborate discussion about the proposed national health policy.

It also formed 13-member working committee, led by Dr AFM Ruhal Huq, to elicit opinion from different quarters of the country in this regard.

The working committee will hold a number of workshops on the health policy in three divisions Rajshahi, Sylhet and Rangpur.

After receiving opinion from these workshops, the working committee will place their recommendations to the national committee.
