Dhaka, Aug 6 (UNB) - Presidium member of Islami Andolon Bangladesh Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim on Friday demanded the arrest of petitioner Dev Narayan Maheshwar, advocate HM Rashid and their associates saying they had hurt religious sentiment of the Muslims by
filing a writ petition.
He also alleged that a vested quarter is hatching conspiracy to give birth to another 1/11 by attempting ban on Islamic politics.
Mufti Faizul Karim, also Pir of Charmonai, made the demand from a rally held at city’s Muktangon today.
The rally was organized by Islami Andolon as part of its countrywide programme demanding arrest of Dev Narayan and his associates, and protesting the “conspiracy” to ban Islamic politics in the country.
Chaired by the party’s city unit president Prof ATM Hemayet Uddin, the rally was addressed by senior leaders of Islami Andolon Bangladesh.
Dev Narayan Maheshwar earlier filed a writ petition on “Qurbani”, which was, however, summarily rejected by the High Court.
