Sylhet, Aug 9 (UNB) - Election Commissioner Sohul Hussain has said partisan municipality and union parishad polls can not be held under present law which needs a number of amendments to do so.

Expressing hope that local government polls could be completed by December this year or January next he said with this end in view 502 server stations are being built in 54 out of 64 districts of the country.

About expatriate Bangladeshis who are eligible voters he said the government is sincere about their right to franchise and steps will be taken to ensure their voting rights.

Sohul informed this after inspecting a server station being built in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj district Saturday morning.
Later, he attended a view-exchange meeting held at the office of the upazila chairman.

DC of Habiganj Mahmud Hassan, Nabiganj UZ chairman Golam Sarwar Hadi Gazi, Deputy Election Commissioner of Sylhet division Khandaker Mizanur Rahman, Nabiganj UNO Sonamoni Chakma, Assistant Police Super Sunjan Chakma, district election officer Mazharul Islam, were among others, present at the meeting.
