Dhaka, Aug 9 (UNB)-Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan police arrested six female garment employees during an overnight (Sunday night) drive from Tejgaon Industrial area.
The DB police said the workers were arrested for their involvement in July 30 workers agitation in the area.
On July 30 unruly workers and outsiders vandalized factories and vehicles at Gulshan and Tejgaon Industrial areas demanding minimum wage of Tk 5000.
Separate cases were filed with Gulshan and Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Stations in connections with the violence.
DB claimed that female workers-- Shahnaj alias Sanu,26, Asma Begum,22, Parul,26, Shahnaj Begum,21, Rupa,27, and Parveen,22,-- were arrested from different parts of Tejgaon Industrial areas after they were identified through television footages and newspaper photos.
