Dhaka, Aug 9 (UNB) - A soccer powerhouse, Sheikh Russell KC will depend on young booters to form a competitive team this season for the 4th version of the Bangladesh League that will begin on December 20 this year.

“We are thinking to rope in young, promising booters for the team and we hope to present competitive football in this season’s Bangladesh League,” said Sheikh Russell KC president Nurul Alam Chowdhury.

He said they are going ahead with this target and hope to compete for the prestigious league title forming a good team.

About the inclusion of new team Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the league, Nurul Alam said: “We believe in contest… if a good team comes in the league, a competitive attitude among the remaining teams will increase. This is a positive sign for country’s football.”

He said that in the last league, contest was confined among three teams - Abahani Limited, Mohammedan SC and Sheikh Russell KC - but now the league competition will be more attractive with the inclusion of the Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.

Sheikh Russell KC has preliminarily selected 17-18 booters. They are Mamun, Uttam, Aminul, Rokibul, Mobarak, Imon Babu and Yousuf (SK Russell), Mostafa, Imrul and Raju (Feni Soccer Club), Al Amin (Shuktara Jubo Sangsad), Mamun Mia (Mohammedan), Prodip Borua (Arambagh KC), Linkon (Chittagoing Mohammedan), Bappi (Sylhet Beanibazar SC), Sahed (Rahmatganj MFS) and Manik (Farashganj SC).

Like the other big team, Sheikh Russell KC will give maximum importance while recruiting their foreign players. The club officials initially talked with some Brazilian, Ghanaian and Moroccan booters.

In the last season, Sheikh Russell KC finished 3rd in the league.
