News - President urges Turkey to invest in potential sectors
Dhaka, Aug 11 (UNB) - President Zillur Rahman has urged the Turkish entrepreneurs to invest in potential sectors of Bangladesh like ship building, infrastructure, textile and jute.

“Turkish entrepreneurs can invest here as an investment friendly atmosphere is prevailing in the country,” the President told newly appointed Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Vakur Erkul while he presented credentials to him at Bangabhaban today.

The President also urged the Turkish businessmen to import world standard readymade garments, pharmaceuticals, tea and ceramic and leather goods from here considering their competitive prices.

Zillur Rahman expressed his satisfaction over the existing excellent bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and said Bangladesh attached great importance on its relationship with Turkey.

The new envoy said the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Turkey have reached a new height after exchanging visits of the Presidents of both the countries.

Erkul apprised the President that Turkey is keen to increase its trade relations with Bangladesh. The proposed direct air link between Turkey and Bangladesh would be started soon in this regard, he said.

The ambassador assured the President that he would make practical contribution in increasing economic and commercial ties between Ankara and Dhaka during his tenure.

The ambassador was given guard of honor by a contingent of the President’s Guard Rgiment.
