
Dhaka, Aug 14 (UNB) - Although the major Bangladesh missions abroad failed to achieve their export target in the last fiscal, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has proposed fresh target for them in the 2010-11 fiscal aiming to cross US$ 18 billion in export earnings.
The export target for the highest earning Bangladesh Mission in Washington for the current fiscal has been proposed at US$ 4559.24 million with an 11 percent increase over the export performance of last fiscal year (US$ 4107.42 million), said a high official of the EPB.
The export target for the other major Bangladesh missions like Berlin, London, Paris, Brussels, Rome, Madrid, The Hague and Ottawa has also been proposed with much higher target than their actual performance in the 2009-10 fiscal.
The export target for Bangladesh mission in Berlin has been proposed at US$ 2486.59 million in the current fiscal, which is 10.50 percent more than US$ 2250.31 million in the last fiscal while export target for Bangladesh Mission in London has been set at US$ 1851.06 million with a 12 percent increase over the export earnings of US$ 1652.73 million in the last fiscal.
The export target for Bangladesh mission in Paris has been proposed at US$ 1222.09 million with a 12 percent increase over last year’s export performance, Brussels at US$ 519.55 million with 11 percent increase over last fiscal, Rome at US$ 727.70 million with 10.27 percent rise over last fiscal, The Hague at US$ 1207.84 million - up 12 percent over last fiscal.
The export target for Ottawa has been proposed at US$ 746.46 million with an 11 percent increase, for Stockholm at US$ 634.80 million with 20 percent increase and for Madrid at US$ 631.54 million with 10.27 percent increase.
However, the export target for Bangladesh missions in Cairo, Beijing, Ankara, Manila and Thimpu has been proposed ambitiously with increase of 40-90 percent over their performances in last fiscal year.
The export target of Bangladesh mission in Cairo has been proposed at US$ 67.53 million, at Beijing US$ 511.49 million, at Ankara US$ 674.32 million, at Manila US$ 53.97 million and at Thimpu US$ 3.36 million.
The export target for Bangladesh mission in New Delhi has been proposed at US$ 380.79 million and for Islamabad at US$ 91.65 million.
In the last fiscal (2009-10), the major Bangladesh missions abroad - Washington, Berlin, Rome, Madrid, The Hague, London and Paris - could not achieve the export target set for them as the overall export earnings for the year fell 7.93 percent short of the target.
The actual export earnings for fiscal 2009-10 was US$ 16204.65 million against the target of US$ 17600 million, which was 4.11 per cent more than the previous year (2008-09) but 7.93 per cent less than the target.
Out of the 44 Bangladesh missions, 26 achieved their respective export target while 18 missions failed to achieve the target set for them.
Besides, out of the 16 Commercial Wings at Bangladesh missions abroad, 7 Commercial Wings achieved the export target while 9 Commercial Wings could not achieve the target set for them for fiscal 2009-10.

The export target for Bangladesh mission in Paris has been proposed at US$ 1222.09 million with a 12 percent increase over last year’s export performance, Brussels at US$ 519.55 million with 11 percent increase over last fiscal, Rome at US$ 727.70 million with 10.27 percent rise over last fiscal, The Hague at US$ 1207.84 million - up 12 percent over last fiscal.
The export target for Ottawa has been proposed at US$ 746.46 million with an 11 percent increase, for Stockholm at US$ 634.80 million with 20 percent increase and for Madrid at US$ 631.54 million with 10.27 percent increase.
However, the export target for Bangladesh missions in Cairo, Beijing, Ankara, Manila and Thimpu has been proposed ambitiously with increase of 40-90 percent over their performances in last fiscal year.
