Dhaka, Aug 17 (UNB)-Three-time champions Abahani Limited, which wrote their name into the history of the country’s football after clinching the Bangladesh League title, will again take to the field to retain the title of the league this season.

But, it will be not an easy task to the traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit as their some key booters quit the team and joined newcomer Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Muktijoddha Sangsad KC.

Under this circumstance, Abahani Limited faces quite difficulty to form strong team ahead of the league and failed to fill the vacuum of those noted booters.

Nevertheless, the club officials are found optimistic about retaining the league title maintaining winning spree this season by forming a good team.

“Of course we will form a strong team as usual taking youth booters with the experienced and old in the team,” Abahani Limited manager Satyajit Das Rupu said.

He said they had already a final discussion with the some booters to form team. They are custodian Himel, experienced striker Alfaz, Shuvro, Arup, Abdullah Parvez, Zitu Kamal, Ronny and Choumrin Rakhain.

Beside, Abahani have confirmed the services of 12 of their old players. They are Zia, Sohel (GK), Siraji, Nazrul, Mintu Pranotosh, Uzzal, Abul, Robin, Sohag, U-19 Biplob and Shaheen, Rupu added.

About foreign collection, he said that five foreign booters will be recruited for the team.

“We are trying to bring Awudu Ibrahim and Samad Yousiff for the team while three more booters will be flown form Ghana and Nigeria to strengthen the team.” he said.

Rupu said that a foreign trainer would be brought for the team to help team coach Amlesh Sen this time as well.

The Abahani manager said that hopefully they would able to form a title-winning team with the old and new booters this season and able to show quality football for the football lovers.
