Robbers loot cash and valuables in Gazipur

Gazipur, Aug 19 (UNB) - Robbers looted Tk 10 lakh in cash and valuables including gold ornaments from a house at Borogaon village in Kaliganj upazila early Wednesday.

Police and locals said a gang of armed bandits wearing masks stormed into the house of Ali Asgar by breaking its collapsible gate at about 2am and beat the house owner, his wife, daughter and caretaker mercilessly after tying their hands and legs.

Later, the bandits looted Tk 10 lakh in cash, 36 tolas of gold, three mobile phone sets and a DVD player from the house.

Harisa Begum, wife of Ali Asgar filed a case with the police in this connection.

Police detained Ahmed, 47, Mostafa, 42, and Taijuddin, of the same village suspecting their involvement in the robbery.
