AL activist shot and wounded in internal fight

Munshiganj, Aug 19 (UNB) - An Awami League activist was shot and wounded in a gunfight between two rival groups of the party over collection of tolls from tempo stand at Muktarpur in sadar upazila on this afternoon.

Delwar, 30, wounded by bullet was undergoing treatment in a private clinic to avoid police action.

Locals said the clash was sequel of rivalry between Delwar and Jubo League activist Imran Hossain over collection of tolls from the tempo drivers.

Both sides used firearms during the clash at about 4pm.

Sadar thana officer Shahidul Islam said normalcy returned in the area. None was arrested till late in the evening.
