Jamalpur, Aug 23 (UNB) - Train communications in Jamalpur-Dewanganj route was halted as a local train was derailed at Jamalpur court station Monday night.

Jamalpur Rail station sources said a Dewanganj-bound local train from Mymensingh was derailed at about 8:45pm as its engine and a passenger boggy slipped from the track near home signal point at the rail station.

At least five passengers of the train were injured when they jumped out from the train out of fear.

The train services in Jamalpur-Dewanganj route were halted and the Brahmaputra Express train and a local mail train were stranded at both sides of the derailed train.

A relief train was asked to go to the spot to clear the route. It may take about two hours to resume the train service, said the station master.
