Weekly tea sale Tuesday sees very strong market

Chittagong, Aug 24 (UNB) - The weekly tea sale here Tuesday witnessed very strong market and all types were appreciably dearer particularly for bright liquoring small Brokens and Fannings.

According to a market report, Blenders dominated the market whilst there was some interest from the Internal Loose tea buyers.

Dusts were a very strong market.

CTC LEAF: 20,919 packages and 165 packages of Old Season on offer again met with a very strong demand at much higher rates.

BROKENS: All Brokens met with a very strong demand particularly the brighter liquoring types which often advanced by Tk 20/- and more particularly the smaller descriptions and these could be quoted between Tk 195/- and Tk 205/-.

FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings were a very strong market and moved up by Tk 20/- and these sold between Tk 195/- and Tk 205/-. Medium varieties were also similarly dearer whilst plainer types advanced by Tk 10/- to Tk 15/-.

CTC DUST: 3,248 packages and 30 packages of Old Season on offer met with a very strong demand at substantially dearer rates. Good liquoring RDs met with a very strong competition and advanced by Tk 20/- to Tk 30/- per kg. Ds also met with a good market and were dearer by Tk 5/- to Tk 10/-. Good CDs were also a good market and were dearer by Tk 5/- to Tk 8/- and often more. Blenders were very active with fairly good interest from the Loose Tea buyers.
