Businessman stabbed by extortionists in Keraniganj

Keraniganj, Aug 29 (UNB) - A businessman was injured in an attack by extortionists for refusal of toll at Hasnabad Dakkhinpara in South Keraniganj thana late Saturday night.

Victim’s family said Javed, an extortionist, has been demanding toll from Nahid Rahman, 42, a furniture businessman and resident of the area, in the name of Eid-Bakshish for last several days.

On refusal, a group of miscreants, led by Javed, swooped on Nahid and hit with sharp weapons at the gate of his house, leaving him injured.

Hearing hue and cry for help, neighbours rushed to the spot and caught Javed while others managed to escape from the spot.

Javed was later handed over to police.

The Injured businessman was admitted to Mitford Hospital in critical condition.

Victim’s younger brother Nadim filed a case with thana.
