When the news spread, the workers of Alpha-Mehendra ransacked Shoukhin Paribahon and injured its staff Nasir and Alamin at Gauchitra point on Barisal-Banaripara route at about 11 am.

As a sequel to the incident, the workers of both groups equipped with lethal weapons locked into a clash at noon at Nathullabad central bus terminal that left four workers of Alpha-Mahendra and another bus worker Jamal injured.

Four vehicles of Alpha-Mahendra were damaged during the clash.

Traffic on Barisal-Dhaka highway and Barisal-Banaripara-Swarupkati-Wazirpur routes were disrupted for two hours following the incident.

Kamal Hossain, secretary general of Barisal Tempo Workers Union, blaming bus owners and workers said that they want to create chaos and are greedy about gaining monopoly in road transport sector and stop a popular public utility service.

Aftab Hossain, District Shramik League president and Barisal road transport (bus) workers union secretary, said that as per decision of the meeting between authorities, workers and owners of all road transport associations held on August 18 at the Barisal DC office, it was decided that Alpha-Mehendra will ply only on city roads, not on any long distance or highway routes to ensure safety and security of the highway traffic.
