Contraband worth Tk 13 lakh seized in Benapole

Beanpole, Aug 30 (UNB) - Members of Bangladesh Rifles in a drive seized huge contraband items worth Tk 13 lakh from two passenger busses at Amrakhali here Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off a team of 22 Rifles Battalion intercepted the two Benapole-bound buses at the point and recovered 1,400 pieces of CD, 110 pieces of loose shirts and some magic bulbs.

The seized contraband items were deposited to Benapole customs house. None was arrested in this connection.

Another message adds: BDR members arrested an Indian citizen near Benapole check post while he was entering into the country on Sunday afternoon.

The arrestee was identified as Jahangir Hossain, 26, son of Sohrab Hossain of village Nadidanga of Nadia district of West Bengal.

He was later handed over to Benapole port police station.
