Chapainawabganj, Aug 30 (UNB) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man along with huge counterfeit currency notes at Shektola village of Shibganj upazila early Thursday.
The arrestee was identified as Rasud Rana, 25, of the village.
Acting on secret information, a team of RAB-5 conducted a raid at the house of Rasud late at night and recovered 42 fake notes of Tk 500 and one note of Tk 1000 denomination and 800 Indian fake rupees from his possession.
RAB later handed over him to the upazila police station.
Another report adds: BDR members arrested an Indian citizen along with 200 bottles of phensidyl syrup at Zaminpur frontier under Shibganj upazila early Thursday.
The arrestee was identified was Khitish Mondol, 30, son of Sufal Mondol of Churianantapur village in Maldaha district of West Bengal.
Commander of 39 Rifles Battalion Major Nazrul Islam said when Khitish entered into the country through the frontier at about 2am, a patrol team of BDR arrested him along with the phensidyl.
