Benapole customs seize Indian saree imported on false declaration

Benapole, Aug 30 (UNB) - The customs intelligence today seized a truck-load of Indian saree imported with false declaration and cancelled the license of the C&F agent.

Port officials said C&F agent M/s R. Enterprise secured release of the consignment imported by M/S Setu Garments & Saree Bhavan of Poradah, Kushtia.

Sensing wrong, customs intelligence held the truck while crossing the BDR check-post. On search they found those were all saree imported on false declaration to evade duty of Tk 4 lakh.

The consignment was seized and license of the C&F agent cancelled. A case was filed against the importer and C&F agent.
