LOS ANGELES, Aug 31 (AP/UNB) – Slash is preparing to go solo in his love life.

Court records show the guitarist filed for divorce Monday from his wife of nearly nine years.

Slash is known for his guitar play with bands Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver. His real name is Saul Hudson.

The filing states he and his wife Perla separated in July and cites irreconcilable differences for the split.

The couple have two sons, ages 8 and 6. Hudson is seeking joint custody of the children and asking a judge to determine how much spousal support he should pay.

The divorce filing was first reported by celebrity website TMZ.
