Dhaka, Aug 31 (UNB) - An Army officer, who was held along with phensidyl, has been dismissed from service and awarded one year civil jail, according to a ISPR release.
Army Officer Major Reza Shah Mohammad Jillulah was detained at the western side of Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajgang on July 15.
Following an allegation, a case was filed by police under Special Power Act-1974.
But, at the same time the officer was tried by court Marshal in Army for other offences where he was dismissed from service with one year rigorous imprisonment in civil jail.
Major Reza was engaged in hatred activities like phensidyl transportation for earning extra income, violating service regulation for his own purpose.
He was a B.SC holder in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and was commissioned in Army in the year 1995.
Any kind of offence or illegal activities by army members is not tolerated in the Army.
Proper punishment is awarded according to Bangladesh Army rules if allegation of crime against any army personnel be proved.
