WASHINGTON, Sept 1 (AP/UNB) - President Barack Obama says the killing of four Israelis in the West Bank was a "senseless slaughter" that will not stop the U.S. from seeking peace in the Middle East.
Obama spoke alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the two met privately at the White House on Wednesday. The U.S. is hosting Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for a new round of Middle East peace talks.
The Islamic militant group Hamas claimed responsibility for the killings. Obama says Hamas needs to know that the violence will not stop him from seeking security for Israel and a long-lasting peace
in the region.
