Dhaka, Sept 3 (UNB) - Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Friday said that power and gas are the main constraints for the export-oriented sector.
“On export we are over the harm. The main constraint is power and gas, not orders,” he said while talking to reporters at his Secretariat office.
Muhith said the government is trying to do whatever possible for increasing power generation, but it takes 8-9 months for sanction, contract and line-up.
He said at present, it would not be possible to give new power connections unless there is additional power.
The Finance Minister was critical of the local entrepreneurs in the power sector like Otobi and Rahimafroz, saying: “They failed to find plant or generate power. They even surrender and this is our problem.”
He said that the local entrepreneurs would have to be more serious if they want to be successful as entrepreneurs.
